Acne Treatments For Oily Skin

Michael asks…

How can I keep my skin clear?

Ive had some break outs on my forhead for a while, and they have finally cleared up, I do not have oily skin, its pretty normal, but at the momment it is a little dry due to the acne treatment. The break outs werent bad at all, but were tuff to get rid of. I just want to know how to keep them away without having to always use the acne treatment.

Sometimes consistently clear skin requires you to build your skin’s resistance to oils again by incorporating moisturization into your skin regime. When you get rid of pimples, you dry out your skin to a certain extent. So, when that skin becomes too dry, it overproduces sebum oil, which then collects bacteria and dirt, which then leads to another round of breakouts, which then requires you to dry the breakouts out again…etc. Vicious cycle. So what I suggest is slowly wean your skin off it. At night, wash your face with a gentle skin cleanser like cetaphil, and moisturize with Cetaphil moisturizing cream (or moisturizing lotion if the cream feels to heavy). Once the lotion dries, then you can use acne treatment over the lotion. In the morning, exfoliate with a salicylic acid product like Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub, and after apply Neutrogena ultra sheer sunscreen in order to seal in the pores and prevent sun-induced inflammation.

Once your breakouts are consistently at bay while using the moisturizer, try not using the acne treatment, as your skin will no longer be dependent on it to keep breakouts down.

Hope this helps! :)

Susan asks…

What skincare regimen should I use on my face?

I am 27 years old and I’m lost. When I was younger, I had terribly oily skin and bad acne so I was always using acne treatments. Now, the treatments that I used to use are severely drying to my skin. I tried a different system that is for normal skin and although it made my skin look beautiful and glowing, it made me break out! I’m stuck and I don’t know what to do with my sensitive, prone to breakout skin!

Here’s a cool vid by Michelle Phan, it’s a homemade nose strip that you can use to get rid of blackheads. You can also use it on other areas of ur face ^.^

Also the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque works really well in getting rid of blackheads and it’s only like $3.
