Acne Treatments For Sensitive Skin

Mandy asks…

Is there a face wash that can get rid of zits and keep them away without upsetting sensitive skin?

I’m 14 and I have really sensitive skin. I’m at that stage where my skin gets very oily and I don’t have extreme acne, but it would be nice to not have lots of pimples on my nose and on my chin. If there was any face wash that I could use everyday to keep my skin less shiny and oily, without tearing up my skin or causing me to get a rash, I would like to know.

I like the Murad line. I think it’s better than proactive and doesn’t dry out my skin. You can get a kit that includes acne face wash, exfoliating acne gel, spot treatment, and skin perfecting lotion. But it is $40 for the kit, which I think is worth it because it lasts a long time. If you don’t want to spend that much I love Burt Bee’s Deep Cleansing Cream with soap bark and chamomile, it’s great for removing excess oil and softens your skin too.

What is a effective acne treatment for a teenage girl? HELP?

Get any kind of face wash that has 2% (or higher) salicylic acid (ex. St. Ives, aveeno, equate, neutrogena’s acne fading peel) and a moisturizer (no oil in them except for safflower oil, which is rare to find) for your skin. Wash your face with water that has 1 or 2 lids of rice vinegar or apple vinegar (that’ll get rid of the redness immediately – if you have any). Also, use eggs to fade scars (if you have any) and reduce breakouts. One more thing, for discoloration that occurs because of pimples, mix white toothpaste with a drop or two of rice or apple vinegar. It needs to be creamy and not liquid like. This will get rid of the discolorations in a few days if its new and a week or so if it’s old.

Also, try not to sleep on the side of your face because you can spread more bacteria from the pillow sheet to your face (if you sleep with the same pillow sheet everyday) causing more acne. If you need to sleep on the side of your face, put a towel over your pillow sheet every 1 – 3 days.

The egg treatment is very effective in getting rid of pimples very fast (usually in under 15 minutes).

If you want to use makeup, make sure it’s a mineral makeup. Mineral makeup won’t make you skin breakout. In fact, they help the skin rejuvenate.
