What acne treatments are safe during pregnancy?

In 1st trimester, and I have it worst on my chest and back. Does anyone have experience dealing with acne during pregnancy? What did your dermatologist recommend?

admin answers:

As long as the medication does not enter your blood they should be safe. I had a question about this with thinning hair treatments and my OB told me it was safe because a topical doesn’t enter the blood stream.

Will using the topical gel Tazorac hurt my chances of becoming pregnant?

I am currently using the topical gel Tazorac for acne treatment and have read the warnings of using this during pregnancy because it could cause birth defects. I wanted to know if using this during no pregnancy would slim my chances of becoming pregant?
I am not trying to get pregnant but I just got married and am not using any sort of birth control so I may end up pregnant

admin answers:

You need to call your OBGYN and ask that, as well as ask how long you should discontinue it before getting pregnant- you do NOt want to mess around on this one, and should not be using it if trying to get pregnant.

If you’re not using birth control, you are risking getting pregnant, and by using this product, you are increasing your risk for a baby with birth defects. Either use birth control, or stop using this product- don’t put your possible baby’s health at risk.
