Treatments For Acne Marks

Mark asks…

What get’s rid of red acne marks?

I have a ton of red acne marks on my face and they are still there 2 years later.

I’ve tried over the counter products and even ointments such as Diffirin and Atralin, with no prevail.

What actually get’s right of red acne marks?

I think you mean the acne scars.

Apply cocoa butter to the scars. Studies have shown that regular application of cocoa butter helps to fade scars more rapidly than some other creams on the market. Also, look for creams that contain naturally healing ingredients, such as shea butter, jojoba oil, castor oil and rose hip oil.

Try an over-the-counter medication such as Mederma, which is specially designed to treat scars. (Any cream that is designed to get rid of scars will work.) Healing time generally takes up to six months before any significant improvement will occur.

Talk to your dermatologist about Retin-A topical creams. These creams have been shown to greatly reduce the appearance of scars. Retinal creams encourages cell turnover. The new cells then take the place of older, scarred cells. Retin-A requires a prescription.

Start dermabrasion treatments. A licensed professional will use a dermabrasion device to treat the scars. Tiny crystals on the end of the device essentially buff away the top layers of your skin. With repeated treatments, you will see a noticeable improvement. Expect your skin to be a bit red and irritated after each treatment.

Have a look here. You will find dozens of recipes for homemade skin care products. You will find several that could help you with this. One thing you could try is a simple dermabrasion. Mix a little sugar with some olive oil and rub it into your skin. It should help.

I have horrible scar marks all along the sides of my face, and I believe what worked best for me (i never really used it though) but when I did, is this bottle called Bio Oil. A little on the expensive side, but I just leave it on right before I sleep and it makes my skin more toned and soft and looks a lot clearer than the night before.

Try it, It helps with a lot of skin problems (:

& for acne, depending on what kind of skin you have, whether it’s oily or dry, you can use anything as long as you wash in the morning AND night. When you wake up you have crud all over your face from your pillow and hair, which, after a while, can clog pores. & At night, because you’ll have a lot of stuff on your face from daily things, like make up and sweating and stuff.

Hope I helped a little (:

At the present time, there is still no cure for acne. However, there are various treatments and preventative measures that can be taken to stop acne before it starts.

Start by adopting a good basic cleansing routine. Even though acne is not caused by poor hygene, it is important to use a wash cloth or another material that will help exfoliate. This is because excess skin cells can contribute to acne. Twice a day should be plenty, and be sure to stay away from oil based moisturizers.

After cleaning the face, use a 2% salicylic acid solution such as stridex or oxy pads. Salicylic acid works by removing more excess skin cells that can clog pores and cause acne to develop. If this is done every day, it will reduce the amount of acne breakouts.

If salicylic acid does not work, try a 5% benzoyl peroxide solution. Anything more than 5% will usually just cause excessive dryness. 5% is strong enough to prevent acne, but not so strong that it irritates the skin. An herbal alternative to benzoyl peroxide is tea tree oil, which has been clinically proven to be as effective as benzoyl peroxide. It is also much less irritating to the skin.

Last but not least, use an oil free sunscreen to protect the skin before going outdoors. This is very important, because sunlight can cause damage and irritation to the skin. Once the skin is damaged, it increases the likelihood of an acne breakout.

The most important part of this regimen is to repeat the steps ever day, whether or not acne is present. By exfoliating, using salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide every day, and protecting the skin with sunscreen, this will stop acne before it starts.

There are also alternative treatments that can be used to prevent acne. Prescription medications such as Accutane, or Retin-A will work to prevent acne. Retin-A in particular can be used with relatively few side effects, and will also work to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

The downside is that it will make the skin more sensitive to sunlight, so wearing sunscreen is a must. Avoiding sunlight as much as possible is even better.

Alpha Hydroxy peels can also be used to prevent acne. By applying glycolic acid to the face, it will gently peel off the upper layers of skin, and allow the skin to renew itself. This form of acne prevention should be administered by a dermatologist, since too much glycolic acid can do more harm than good.

Many acne treatments also work as acne preventatives. The problem is most people stop treating acne once it is gone. The best way to prevent acne and acne scarring is to use a daily regimen of exfoliating, medicating, and protecting at all times. This will keep the vast majority of acne from ever showing up.
